Yesterday, there was a global hysteria, now it's a never-ending madness, with people queuing for hours to purchase it, the one and only iPhone 5. Apple wisely chosen its teasing, after a period of uninspired marketing: both loyal customers and curious ones feverishly waited for it (we were told it was almost there) and now it's a real thing to be touched and tested. Besides iPhone 5, Apple will also try to conquer your attention with the release of its new iPods.
IPhone 5 Is Finally Here
Coming back to our main and hot topic, iPhone 5, let's start with probably the most important fact for a buyer: where and when to place your order? Your dream will become reality starting with September 21, when Iphone 5 and updated iPod will be available on iTunes Store. Well, you can be ironic and joke about this situation: the company made everything look thinner, with the exception of the long waiting, apparently becoming even longer (9 days are like hell for a loyal customer, isn't it?)
All in all, the new iPhone, freshly announced includes a 4-inch Retina screen, with a 16×9 aspect ratio, is packed with 326 pixels per inch, giving it space for an extra apps and creating a more accurate experience. According to Tim Cook, Apple CEO, the new iPhone integrates the touch sensors inside the very display, a technique similar to the one implied by Sony Xperia V. Unlike rival brands, including Sony itself, Apple never creates something thinner and lighter, without essential metamorphosis. In the case of iPhone 5, it replaced the A5 processor with a A6 one, whose CPU and graphics are twice faster, despite consuming up to 22% more space. Generally speaking, leaving aside all glamour, you’ll find in your palm just a 7.6 mm phone, quite light for daily use.
iPhone 5 looks great and runs like no other gadget, but this performance has to be sustained by a strong architecture. Apple claims to have improved battery life, estimated at 225 hours of standby use and 8 hours of 3G talk mode. Hungry for mobile internet? The dynamic antenna allows you to perform connections at speeds up to 150 mbps. I am not very convinced that Siri could ever be healed from its funny moments, which are so delicious, but Apple is positive that the three microphones used for in-going audio, will surely help the virtual assisstant.
Entertainment is a hot point for any brand, but Apple wants to be best of them all. New iPhone's camera performs better in low light, so you won't have to worry anymore about the blurry pictures taken in the sunset. Also, the improved camera can automatically link photos to create huge panoramas, take photos while shooting video and send photos to shared Photo Streams stored in the iCloud.
Until now, iPhone 5 sounds like a miracle, but let's not get too excited. According to analysts, nothing too surprising comes in the realm of apps, Apple was felt to be more comfortable to include the majority of iOS 6 apps announced in June at the Worldwide Developers Conference.
What was true inside rumors and what was pure utopia about this gadget? Basically, iPhone 5 matches the leaked pictures, starting with the colors (a black with shiny details and a white one with brushed aluminum details) and ending with the new type of connector. In the last case, the connector is called Lightning and is smaller than the 30-pin connector usually implied since 2003. You will certainly appreciate this tiny, but essential part of the gadget, that is also reversible, so you don’t have to look for the tiny icon on one side, before plugging in.
If you feared that you will break your piggy bank (plus friends or relatives' savings), in order to have it, relax a little bit. iPhone 5 is estimated at the same price as iPhone 4S: the model with 16GB will cost $199 with a two-years contract, the improved version of 32 GB will cost $299, while the business version based on 64GB is estimated at $399. If you are totally convinced that you must have it, hurry and catch the pre-orders' train, starting September 14. Depending on your area, the gadget might arrive at you until September 28, but you can get satisfied meanwhile with an iOS 6 upgrade, scheduled for September 19.
